Glenn and Jake's Foundation of Hope was created in honor and memory of Glenn Scher and Jake Borson. They both represented a desire to help others and make a difference in the lives of others. Glenn was the son of Mark and Sylvia Scher of Old Bridge, New Jersey and passed away at the age of 35 in September of 2012. One of their last visions of Glenn was at a local food bank where they bought food and passed it out to the hungry. Glenn had a way of making people feel special. He had the gift of embracing others and listening to the problems people were facing. His humor was contagious and he found such joy in helping others despite the trials he faced in life. He loved to give and his heart was big. Sylvia and Mark decided after his death to allow his legacy to live on by funding an organization to continue to help people in need. Jake Borson was the nephew of Sue Stahl. Jake passed away at the age of 17 in February 2011. In his short time here, he also displayed a love and desire to help others. He was actively involved in helping disadvantaged youth in the city of Boston at the Dimock Center where a playground was dedicated and named after him and he also worked with disabled children at the St. Charles ARC. Jake was full of life and had a special way of making people feel loved whenever he was around. His sense of humor and genuine spirit would light up a room. He brought so much joy and laughter to the lives of others. It is their lives that inspired Sylvia, Mark and Sue to start this charitable foundation in memory of both Glenn and Jake. They wanted the impact they had here before they left this earth to live on by making the world a better place for others. Although they are not here and the pain of missing them will always remain, those words in the poem below inspired the creation of the foundation.
